How to Save an xHamster Video on iPhone
iOS is the one platform where a downloader has to work differently, and knowing why makes the whole process less mysterious when a file does not appear where you expected.
The short version
Copy the video link from the xHamster app or from Safari. Paste it into the field on the front page and press Fetch. Pick a quality — the size is printed beside each one, which matters on cellular. Safari takes over from there and puts the file in its Downloads list.
To find it afterwards: tap the download icon in Safari’s address bar, or open the Files app and go to Downloads.
Why iOS takes a different route
On a desktop or Android browser, this site hands your browser the address of the file at xHamster and your browser fetches it directly. Nothing passes through our server. You can watch it happen in a network panel.
Safari will not do that. When a page fetches a file from another domain and tries to save it, iOS refuses — the download attribute browsers use for this is ignored across origins. So on iPhone and iPad the file is relayed through our server instead, which is the only way to attach a filename and make Safari treat it as a download rather than a video to play.
Practically this means nothing changes for you. It is worth stating because it is the one exception to a claim made everywhere else on this site, and a claim with a quiet exception is not worth much.
Getting it into Photos
Downloads land in Files, not the camera roll. If you want the video in Photos: open Files, go to Downloads, tap and hold the video, choose Share, then Save Video.
There is no way to skip that step from a browser. iOS does not let a web page write to the photo library, and any site claiming otherwise is describing an app.
When it does not work
If Safari opens the video full-screen instead of downloading it, the relay did not engage — reload the page and try again rather than long-pressing the player.
If the download stalls near the end, the link has probably expired. xHamster’s file links expire on their own in under four hours; fetch the video again to get a fresh one.
If nothing happens at all, check the link is a video page. A profile or search page has no file behind it.
Storage is the real constraint
A 720p file of a ten-minute video runs around 90 MB. Three of those and you have used a quarter of a gigabyte. The size printed next to each quality exists so you can make that call before the download starts rather than after.
On cellular, 480p is usually the sensible pick — around 40 MB for the same video, and on a phone screen the difference is hard to see.
